Well January, that seemed crazily short and sweet! You seemed to disappear in a whirlwind of fogginess and then suddenly here we are looking out to a snow-covered February – what a beautiful welcome!

Looking back to last month, January really is a little peculiar isn’t it?! All the fun seems to come to an abrupt end and most of us enter into ‘Dry January’ to try and regain a little self-respect after abusing our bodies for the month of December! It is also a time to set New Year’s resolutions… have you set any? If a healthier happy you is on the horizon, then we may be able help you on that journey!

A greenhouse allows you to grow all year round, regardless of the weather. It is a perfect way to engage the whole family and grow fresh fruit and vegetables to then enjoy all together. Fresh fruit and vegetables are undoubtedly full of rich nutrients and vitamins and growing at home allows you to control when to harvest your food. You can then enjoy all your fresh crops as soon as they ripen, as opposed to store-bought vegetables that must be picked early.

Although it maybe the last thing you feel like doing, now is the time to pop on those wellie boots and get planting! The following vegetable and fruits should be planted this month:

  • Garlic
  • Rhubarb
  • Apples
  • Blackcurrants
  • Blueberries
  • Pears
  • Plums and Gages
  • Raspberries
  • Redcurrants and whitecurrents

Put the hard work in now and you’ll be rewarded with the most delicious homegrown goodies to complete those summer dishes! Good luck!
