March Your Way into Spring… or get struck by ‘The Beast from the East’ and sledge your way there!
Spring has certainly not sprung just yet but hopefully your plants and seeds have been tucked away safely in your greenhouse, avoiding the snow and frost that has been making an appearance this month.
Although when drawing back your curtains this morning you’re still greeted with a light sprinkling of winter wonderland, hopefully the white fluffy stuff is on its way out and we can fully embrace the longer and lighter days ahead of us. Of course, any keen gardener welcomes the spring and summer days so we can put our green-fingers to work in more pleasant climes!
Our Operations Director is currently braving the weather as he builds up his miles in preparation for London Marathon next month. (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mrrhutchinson) Whilst it’s not necessarily inspiring the rest of the team to get fit, it has certainly helped our vegetables to get in shape. Our Runner Beans have been sown, ready to sprint into life later in the summer!
We hope the lighter mornings have helped you to rise from your beds that little bit earlier, unlike those sleepy seedlings that still need to be sown. Make sure to prick out bedding plants seedlings from last month and sow later seeds such as cucumber, courgette, celery, leeks and peppers.
We at Vitavia wish everyone a fantastic St Patricks Day. We are sure there will be many sore heads tomorrow, not of the withered plant kind either!
