Vitavia Greenhouses – Get a greenhouse, get ahead!
The peak period for greenhouse sales is from March onwards but many customers are ‘missing a trick’ by not making their purchase earlier in the year. Buying a greenhouse in January will enable you to get a head start. Hardy annuals can be sown and grown as pot plants in your greenhouse in January. There are a number of plant varieties, mainly short-lived perennial herbaceous plants, which flower as soon as light levels increase in early spring, such as salpiglossis and schizanthus. To grow these you’ll need to start in January. Commercial pot plant growers sow schizanthus first thing in the New Year to be ready for Mother’s Day in March.
In February, vegetables such as parsnips, onions and turnips can be potted in preparation for transferring them to outdoor plots. It is important to remember that even on cool winter days ventilation will be required to keep the temperature down in the greenhouse when the sun is out. A Vitavia auto-louvre opener and/or auto-vent opener will ensure adequate ventilation. So don’t delay, get a greenhouse today! |
